About the data

- Method
- ASTP analyzed the American Hospital Association's 2023 and 2024 IT Supplement surveys of non-federal acute care hospitals (1,696 hospitals using predictive AI in 2023, 1,587 in 2024). The brief's Figure 2 prints each 2023 share and the change in percentage points. Each 2024 share here is their sum, so rounding can move it by a point. The summary states the billing (36% to 61%) and scheduling (51% to 67%) shares directly. Figure 2 prints no change for inpatient risk prediction and the text says that use remained stable, so its 2024 value repeats 2023. Table 2 of the brief splits these hospitals into the 80% that used AI from their EHR developer and the 20% that used AI only from other sources. Weighting its two columns by those shares gives the same 2024 values within one point.
