About the data

- MIT NANDA, The GenAI Divide: State of AI in Business 2025 (July 2025) (opens in a new tab)Executive summary, p. 3; section 3.2 exhibit, p. 6
- Method
- The report draws on interviews with 52 organizations, a survey of 153 senior leaders and a review of more than 300 public AI initiatives, and presents its results as preliminary findings. It says these figures are directionally accurate, since they come from interviews rather than company reporting. General-purpose chat tools did better in the same exhibit: 80% of organizations investigated them, 50% piloted them and 40% deployed them. This chart shows only the custom and vendor-sold tools. The report is no longer at its original MIT address, so the link goes to the Internet Archive's copy of that file.
